I'm Erin.
I own a small army of house plants and collect elephants from every city I visit. I dance around the house to ABBA on vinyl with my cat, Couscous, and feed my love of fantasy running Dungeons and Dragons games for my friends.
I love telling meaningful stories that connect people with the world around them. What started from a young age as a general love of wildlife grew into a passion for documenting the ways humans engage with nature and with each other.
After growing up in Madison, WI, I received a photojournalism degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. I most recently joined the Missouri Department of Conservation's communications branch after several years in South Dakota at the Sioux Falls Argus Leader. Previously, I held positions with the Fargo Forum newspaper and Wyoming Wildlife Magazine and assisted at National Geographic. My work has been published nationally, including the Associated Press, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, USA Today and Rolling Stone.
In 2022, I became the Outstanding Young Journalist of the Year with the South Dakota Newspaper Association for my dedication to educating others on the value of visual journalism. Ignored, a project exposing the failures of the state to support Deaf and hard of hearing children, earned myself and then-education reporter Shelly Conlon first place in our division for the 2020 Katherine Schneider Journalism Award for Excellence in Reporting on Disability.
I'm always looking for new ideas and projects of all kinds, so don't hesitate to contact me with any thoughts you may have! Can't wait to get in touch.
