I'm Erin.
I own a small army of house plants and collect elephants from every city I visit. I dance around the house to the Talking Heads on vinyl with my cat, Couscous, and feed my love of fantasy running Dungeons and Dragons games for my friends.
But more than anything, I am a creative soul with a passion and talent for visual storytelling.
After growing up in Madison, WI, I received a photojournalism degree from the University of Missouri. I transitioned into public sector communications after many years as a newspaper photographer. My work has taken me to Arizona with National Geographic, Wyoming with Wyoming Wildlife Magazine, South Dakota with the Argus Leader newspaper and so many other exciting places. My images have been published nationally, including by the Associated Press, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, USA Today and Rolling Stone.
I became the 2021 Outstanding Young Journalist of the Year with the South Dakota Newspaper Association for my dedication to educating others on the value of visuals. Ignored, a project exposing the failures of the state to support Deaf and hard of hearing children, earned myself and then-education reporter Shelly Conlon first place in our division for the 2020 Katherine Schneider Journalism Award for Excellence in Reporting on Disability.
I'm always looking for new ideas and projects of all kinds, so don't hesitate to contact me with any thoughts you may have! Can't wait to get in touch.
